Kamalakshi Saikia is an artist based in Singapore who grew up in Assam, India. Her extensive work on watercolour florals over several decades is a foil for her work with the abstract and the experimental, the latter being a legacy from her days as a textile designer for Satya Paul.

Today, she works out of her studio in Singapore, creating her watercolours as well as designs on cloth. Experimenting with different surface design techniques, be it dyeing, stamping, printing, applying resists, stencilling, stitching, or embellishing, among others, she most enjoys pushing the boundaries of possibility.
